62. How to Choose the Right Business Model for Your Next Evolution

podcast Jan 07, 2025

As entrepreneurs, we often focus on our passion, mission, and the clients we want to serve—but there’s a crucial question that can make or break your business journey: Do you have the right business model?

In Episode 62 of the Design and Align Your Business Podcast, I’m chatting about why your business model is the foundation for creating a thriving, sustainable business. Whether you're starting fresh, pivoting, or scaling, the model you choose directly impacts how money, energy, and opportunities flow into your business.

Let’s unpack this together.

Why Your Business Model Matters

Your business model isn’t just a structural decision—it’s the roadmap to achieving your mission. It determines how you serve your clients, how you structure your time, and how you ensure the long-term sustainability of your business.

Choosing the wrong model creates unnecessary resistance. On the other hand, the right model opens up doors, making your business feel aligned, impactful, and abundant.

Four Key Elements of an Aligned Business Model

In the episode, I shared four essential elements to consider when evaluating or designing your business model:

  1. Your Mission and Vision
    • Who are you serving, and how are you serving them? Clarity here is foundational.
  2. Your Strengths and Role
    • Are you the hands-on expert, a CEO managing a team, or something in between?
  3. Your Ideal Client’s Needs
    • What type of model best supports your clients’ transformation or goals?
  4. Your Funding Structure
How will money flow into your business to sustain its growth and your personal goals?

The 4 Human Design Elements to Align with Your Business Model

To truly create an aligned business model, I use insights from Human Design. Here are the four key areas to explore:

  1. Type
    • Your energy type (e.g., Generator, Manifestor, Projector) determines how you best interact with others and use your energy in business.
  2. Profile
    • Your profile (e.g., 5/1, 2/4) highlights the role you’re designed to play in the world—be it a teacher, community builder, or thought leader.
  3. Environment
    • This reveals the vibe or setting where you thrive. Your environment shapes how you show up and attracts the right people to you.
  4. Unconscious Jupiter (Gene Keys)
    • This advanced element of Human Design reflects the role you’re meant to play and whether you’re suited for solo entrepreneurship, partnerships, or team leadership.

When these elements align with your business model, the flow of energy, money, and opportunities becomes exponential.
